	Introduction

Production technology of marigold

v  Marigold(Tagetes erecta) Family(Asteraceace) is one of the most commonly grown commercial flower crop in india.

v  Marigold is another important flower crop among stemless cut flower and the hardiest one.

	Species and cultivars

  Among 50 species of marigold only for are cultivated.

	Soil and climate

 

·         Well drained sandy loam soil are best suited.

·         Mild climate of 15-18⁰C for

Night and 18-25^oC  for day.

	Propagation

 

§         Marigold is propagated by both methods i.e.,

 1.Seeds

 2.Cuttings - For maintaining the purity of varieties.

 Harvesting And Yield

o   Marigold flower should be  plucked when they attain the full size depending upon the variety.

o   Plucking of flowers should be done in cool hours of the day i.e, either in the morning or evening.

Under management condition, per plant is around 1.5-2kg.

Ø  Leaf spot (Alternaria tagetes)
